Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated helmet detection and number plate extraction system for enhancing road safety and traffic law enforcement. The system employs advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques to detect helmet usage by motorcycle riders and to extract vehicle license plate information from images or video streams. The invention comprises image capturing units, preprocessing modules, object detection models, helmet classification modules, number plate localization units, optical character recognition modules, and violation analysis components working in an integrated manner. Captured traffic footage is processed in real time to identify motorcycles, riders, helmets, and license plates using trained convolutional neural networks and object detection algorithms. Upon detecting a helmet violation, the corresponding license plate details are extracted and associated with the violation. The system further enables automatic storage, reporting, and electronic challan generation for enforcement purposes. The invention reduces dependence on manual monitoring, improves detection accuracy, and provides a scalable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for traffic management, law enforcement, and road safety enhancement.
