MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089693 A) filed by Abes Engineering College on July 23, 2026, for An Automated Fake News Detection System Using Ensemble Machine Learning And A Method Thereof.

Inventors include Ms. Shweta Singh; and Mr. Shreyas Jaiswal.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated fake news detection system, method, and process employing machine learning and natural language processing techniques for identifying fabricated or misleading news content. The invention comprises a text preprocessing engine configured to perform normalization, stop-word removal, tokenization, and lemmatization of news articles, followed by TF-IDF-based feature extraction utilizing unigram and bigram representations. The extracted features are analyzed using ensemble machine learning classifiers, preferably a Gradient Boosting Machine, to classify content as genuine or fake. The system further incorporates an explainability module that provides human-readable feature attribution and confidence scoring for each prediction. The invention enables rapid, scalable, and computationally efficient screening of digital news content while maintaining high classification accuracy. The system is suitable for deployment in news platforms, social media networks, content moderation systems, and misinformation monitoring applications.
