MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108549 A) filed by Pragati Engineering College on September 10, 2026, for An Automated Bird Deterrent System For Agricultural Crop Protection.

Inventors include Dr. A. Radha Krishna; Mrs. L. Yamuna; Mr. Janardhana Rao Addanki; and Mrs. V Anantha Lakshmi.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Automatic Bird Scaring Device for Farms that protects agricultural crops from bird damage using artificial intelligence, computer vision, Internet of Things (IoT), and automated deterrent mechanisms. The system comprises a camera module, motion detection sensor, embedded processing unit, wireless communication module, and multiple bird-scaring devices. The camera continuously monitors the agricultural field, while the motion sensor activates image capture upon detecting movement. The captured images are processed using a trained deep learning algorithm to accurately identify birds and distinguish them from humans, animals, and other moving objects, thereby minimizing false detections. Upon confirmation of bird presence, the processing unit automatically activates one or more deterrent mechanisms, including flashing LED lights, ultrasonic sound emitters, directional speakers, rotating reflective devices, servo-driven moving mechanisms, or water spray units. The deterrent methods are selected adaptively or in random combinations to prevent birds from becoming habituated to repetitive scare patterns. The system further supports remote monitoring through Wi-Fi, GSM, or LoRa communication by transmitting real-time alerts and operational data to a cloud platform. Powered by a solar panel with rechargeable battery backup, the invention enables energy-efficient and autonomous operation. The proposed system provides an intelligent, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solution for reducing crop losses, minimizing labor requirements, and improving agricultural productivity.
