MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086478 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on July 15, 2026, for An Automated Bias Detection And Quantification System For Media Content Using Natural Language Processing And Machine Learning.

Inventors include Dr. Abhishika Sharma; and Dr. Asha Mamaraj Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated bias detection and quantification system for media content using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. The system comprises a Data Collection Module for identifying media sources, acquiring textual and multimedia content, managing storage, removing duplicates, and generating structured JSON data. A Preprocessing Module normalizes text through tokenization, stop-word removal, lemmatization, and named entity recognition. A Contextual Embedding Generation Module employs pretrained language models such as BERT, RoBERTa, or GPT to generate semantic feature vectors. A Bias Feature Extraction Module analyzes sentiment, framing, omission, polarization, and topic imbalance. A Bias Classification Module performs multi-label bias prediction with confidence scoring. A Bias Quantification Engine computes normalized weighted bias scores, while a Real-Time Processing Engine enables low-latency streaming analysis. Finally, an Output Generation Module presents bias reports, dashboards, visualizations, API-based integration, and user activity logs. The tool uses state-of- the-art NLP and machine learning algorithms, making it applicable for use in media analysis, governance, research, and digital ecosystem fields regardless of any platform limitations.
