MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089494 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 22, 2026, for An Augmented Reality System For Medication Package Recognition And Patient-Specific Counselling.

Abstract: The present invention an augmented reality medication counselling system (100) comprises a phone camera (200) or AR glasses (300), an edge processing unit (1400), a package recognition model (400), a dispensing record link (700), a pharmacist content-approval console (800), a safety interlock module (1800), and an AR overlay renderer (900). Package image data are quality-screened by an optical quality assessment module (1500) and verified by a multi-factor package verification module (1600) using visual features, printed fields and geometry. A secure dispensing token module (1700) links a verified package identifier to a patient-specific dispensing record without exposing patient data to the renderer. The safety interlock module (1800) permits presentation only when recognition confidence, record correspondence, package validity, and approved-content signature satisfy conditions. The AR overlay renderer (900), assisted by a spatial overlay tracking module (2200), presents patient-specific instructions, warnings, administration animations, storage guidance, and teach-back content while a tamper-evident audit log (2000) records events.
