Abstract: GAITNEX represents a significant advancement in the field of assistive devices for neurological rehabilitation. It is an innovative, modular orthotic framework specifically engineered to provide —simultaneous and integrated support for the-head and-upper trunk-- This invention addresses a critical gap in current rehabilitation technology, where existing devices often offer isolated support for either the head or the trunk, leading to compromised posture, discomfort, and restricted movement. The core innovation of GAITNEX lies in its holistic and adjustable design, which incorporates modular supports for key anatomical regions including the occiput, sternum, and upper back, stabilized by a system of lightweight structural rods and secured via adjustable axillary and waist belts. By unifying support for the cephalic and thoracic regions, the framework promotes superior postural alignment, enhances upper extremity function, and mitigates the risk of secondary complications such as contractures and deformities. Constructed from a combination of lightweight aluminum alloys, polypropylene components, comfort foam, and durable textile straps, the device is both robust and patient-friendly. Its modular nature allows for extensive customization, enabling clinicians to tailor the support to the individual impairment severity and body morphology of patients suffering from conditions like stroke, spinal cord injury, or cerebral palsy.
