Inventors include Dr. U. Praveen Goud; Ms. Boyapally Rashmitha Reddy; Mr. Lakavath Rakesh; Mr. Tholikonda Shashi Kumar; and Mr. Buyyavarapu Deepak Sai.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an Artificial Intelligence-based system and method for optimizing road geometry using real-time traffic volume analysis. The system integrates data acquired from IoT sensors, CCTV cameras, GPS devices, mobile applications, and other traffic monitoring sources. Machine learning algorithms analyze traffic density, vehicle classification, traffic speed, congestion patterns, and future traffic demand. Based on predictive analytics, the optimization engine dynamically determines suitable roadway geometric parameters including lane width, curvature, shoulder width, median configuration, intersection layout, and flyover alignment. A simulation engine validates multiple design alternatives before recommending the optimal configuration. The proposed invention improves traffic flow, reduces congestion, minimizes travel time, decreases fuel consumption, lowers emissions, and enhances road safety. The invention is suitable for deployment in smart cities, highways, municipal roads, industrial corridors, and intelligent transportation systems.
