MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631085563 A) filed by Dr. Laboni Ghorai on July 13, 2026, for An Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Position Guidance System And Method For Intraoral Radiography.
Inventor includes Dr. Laboni Ghorai.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention an artificial intelligence-assisted position guidance system for intraoral radiography includes an intraoral receptor holder, position sensing assembly, an X-ray tube-head alignment interface, and processing unit configured to guide operator positioning before exposure. The sensing assembly captures orientation, distance, and image/marker data of the receptor, tube head, and patient oral region. The processing unit identifies anatomical and device landmarks, computes receptor-to-beam geometry, compares the computed geometry with a stored projection protocol, and generates corrective guidance indicating angular, vertical, horizontal, and source-to-receptor distance adjustments. A display, audio indicator, haptic indicator provides real-time instructions until alignment falls within predetermined tolerance limits. The system may include an exposure interlock preventing image capture when the tube head and receptor are misaligned. The invention reduces cone-cut, elongation, foreshortening, retakes, and avoidable radiation exposure while improving repeatability of periapical, bitewing, and occlusal intraoral radiographs with chair-side workflow compatibility and calibration support for dental clinics.
