The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) based dynamic traffic signal time allocation system and method for real-time traffic optimization and emergency vehicle prioritization. The invention comprises an image acquisition module, an image pre-processing module, a deep learning- based vehicle detection and classification module, a traffic density estimation module, an emergency vehicle detection module, a priority computation engine, a dynamic signal timing controller, and an IoT-enabled traffic signal controller configured to adaptively regulate traffic signals based on real-time traffic conditions. The system continuously acquires traffic images, determines lane-wise traffic density, identifies emergency vehicles, computes dynamic lane priorities, and allocates optimized green signal durations to improve traffic flow efficiency. The invention further minimizes vehicle waiting time, queue length, fuel consumption, and traffic congestion while ensuring rapid movement of emergency vehicles through adaptive signal control. The proposed system provides an intelligent, scalable, cost-effective, and deployable solution for modern intelligent transportation systems and smart city traffic management infrastructure.
