Abstract: “AN AQUATIC VEHICLE” ABSTRACT An aquatic vehicle (100) is disclosed including a body (1) and a tail assembly coupled thereto. The 5 tail assembly includes a plurality of primary flaps (2) capable of displacement relative to each other. An actuation system is coupled to the plurality of primary flaps (2) and includes a first and a second actuator configured to selectively generate relative closing and oscillatory pitching motions of the primary flaps (2) for propulsion. A side flap assembly (200) includes secondary flaps (5) connected to the body (1) along a longitudinal axis (A-A). A third actuator (6) is 10 connected to each secondary flap (5) to impart pitching motion and selectively orient the secondary flap (5), and a fourth actuator (7) is connected to each secondary flap (5) to assist maneuvering. The configuration of the tail assembly and the side flap assembly enables the aquatic vehicle to perform impulsive start, cruising, braking, and turning. 15 Figure 1 is a representative figure.
