MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071356 A) filed by Blubble Private Limited on June 09, 2026, for An Approach To Screen End-Of-Life Batteries Intended For Repurposing In Second Life Applications.

Inventors include Vignesh S; and Reddy, Pidapa Sudhindra.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for screening end-of-life batteries intended for repurposing in second life applications. The method comprises receiving end- of-life batteries from electric vehicle original equipment manufacturers or aggregators, performing primary screening based on one or more parameters selected from AC Internal Resistance, Open Circuit Voltage, and State of Charge, and capturing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements across cells wherein impedance spectra is captured for frequencies ranging from 0.1 mHz to 1 kHz. The method comprises fitting impedance spectra with a 2 RC model to capture parameters including Solid Electrolyte Interphase resistance, charge transfer resistance, bulk capacitance, and electrolytic capacitance. The method comprises identifying outlier impedance spectra from cells screened on a batch, performing capacity testing on cells with outlier impedance spectra to benchmark State of Health ranges, correlating electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements with capacity values, predicting capacity of untested cells based on the correlation, and performing binning for battery pack preparation.
