MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421074205 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Gandhinagar on October 01, 2024, for An Apparatus To Print Mesh-Reinforced Concrete Structures And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Chaman Modi; Manish Kumar; and Vadali Venkata Madhukanth.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT AN APPARATUS TO PRINT MESH-REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES AND METHOD THEREOF The present disclosure relates to an apparatus (210) to print mesh-reinforced concrete structures and a method thereof. The apparatus (210) comprises a nozzle cap (230) for receiving concrete and a connector (226) for operatively aligning a modular assembly comprising modules (210A, 210B, 210C) and the nozzle cap (230). Each module (210A, 210B, 210C) includes grooves (236A, 236B, 236C), inlets (212A, 212B, 212C), outlets (215A, 215B, 215C), tapered ends (217A, 217C), and open side faces (213A, 213B, 213C, 216) to facilitate extrusion and mesh embedment. Mesh-reinforcement spools (209, 219) are mounted on spacers (211) or a horizontal spool stand (220) and guided via rollers (208, 223) into the concrete mixture flow path through vertical gaps (235) defined by shims (225) and horizontal slits (240). The apparatus synchronously embeds horizontal (224) and vertical (214) mesh layers. The apparatus improves structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and durability of 3D printed concrete structures (206).
