Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus (100) for treatment of wastewater. The apparatus comprising a reactor (102) comprising a chamber (104) with an interior (140), an inlet (106) and an outlet (108) to permit a continuous flow of the wastewater. An electrode assembly (110) comprising at least one anode (112) and at least one cathode (114) arranged to be connected to a power supply through a connection arrangement (116) to undergo an electrochemical reaction with the wastewater upon application of an electrical potential. A plurality of media (118) exhibits a random motion inside the wastewater to mechanically contact a reactive surface during the random motion. A flow generating arrangement (124) is operatively coupled to generate a flow causing the random motion of the plurality of media. The disclosure also embodies a method of assembling and a method for operating the apparatus.
