Abstract: Disclosed herein an apparatus for the automated inspection and classification of fabrics, comprising a conveyor system (2) having a length and width approximately in a ratio of 2:1, configured to transport at least two fabrics simultaneously, a backlight panel positioned beneath the conveyor system (2), configured to enhance the visibility of defects during the scanning process, a dark-room enclosure housing area-scan cameras, the cameras being movable along the x and z axes for field of view adjustment, a machine learning module configured to analyze images captured by the cameras to detect and classify stains, tears, and defects on both sides of each fabric, and a user interface with a screen to configure the detection parameters and display inspection statistics, and an end chute attached to the conveyor system (2) to enable seamless transfer of fabrics to subsequent processing machines.
