MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109985 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu on September 14, 2026, for An Apparatus For Air Purification.

Inventors include Prajaparti, Kartik Kumar; Awasthi, Ankit; Kumar, Aditya; Abbasi, Usama Ahmed; Jain, Prakhar; and Kumar, Navneet.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus (100) for air purification. The apparatus (100) may initiate operation when a blower (112) may draw a polluted air stream through a PVC pipe (110) toward a nozzle (102-2). The nozzle (102-2) may increase velocity of the polluted air stream before delivering the polluted air stream through a tangential inlet (102-4) into an elongated cylindrical separation chamber (104). The tangential inlet (102-4) may impart circumferential momentum to establish a swirling airflow within the elongated cylindrical separation chamber (104). The swirling airflow may generate centrifugal forces that may cause suspended particulate matter to migrate toward an internal wall and may retain the particulate matter through repeated particle-wall interactions. A comparatively cleaner air stream may thereafter move toward a diffuser outlet (106), where the diffuser outlet (106) may reduce the discharge velocity before releasing the cleaned air stream from the apparatus (100).
