Abstract: An air system for a hydrogen internal combustion engine system includes a compressor configured to compress a flow of air, an intercooler in fluid receiving communication with the compressor, and a vortex tube. The intercooler is configured to cool the flow of air. The vortex tube includes an inlet in fluid receiving communication with the intercooler, a first outlet, and a second outlet in fluid providing communication with intercooler. The vortex tube is configured to direct a first portion of the flow of air through the first outlet. The first portion of the flow of air has a first temperature. The vortex tube is configured to direct a second portion of the flow of air through the second outlet. The second portion of the flow of air has a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
