Abstract: ABSTRACT The rapid growth of urban traffic has made it increasingly difficult for ambulances to reach emergency destinations on time due to heavy congestion and the lack of dedicated emergency lanes. Delays in ambulance movement can result in the loss of valuable time during critical medical situations. To overcome this challenge, the proposed work presents a Smart Movable Road Divider for Ambulance Clearance Using AI and IoT, which intelligently creates a temporary emergency lane for ambulances by automatically repositioning road dividers. The proposed system integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), GPS technology, cameras, wireless communication, and a motorized road divider mechanism to detect and track approaching ambulances in real time. AI-based image processing and vehicle recognition techniques are used to identify authorized ambulances, while IoT devices continuously communicate with the control unit to monitor traffic conditions and control divider movement. Once an ambulance is detected, the system automatically shifts the movable road divider to provide a clear path for emergency vehicle passage. After the ambulance safely crosses the designated area, the divider returns to its original position, restoring normal traffic flow. The system also provides real-time monitoring through a cloud-based web or mobile application, enabling traffic authorities to monitor ambulance location, divider status, and traffic conditions remotely. The proposed solution can be further enhanced by integrating smart traffic signal control, emergency vehicle authentication, predictive traffic analysis, and smart city infrastructure. The developed AI-IoT-based smart movable road divider reduces ambulance response time, minimizes traffic congestion, improves road safety, and decreases manual intervention.
