MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611087150 A) filed by Uttaranchal University on July 16, 2026, for An Ai-Enabled, Iot-Based Aviation Weather Risk Management System.
Inventors include Harshita Bhatt; Rahul Mahala; Jitendra Singh; Yashika; and Yashita.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an AI-enabled, IoT-based aviation weather risk management system comprising an allocated network of smart numeric sensory data collector devices (20) deployed up to an arbitrary integer number in adjacency to airport runways, taxiways, and access paths; an autonomous renewable energy-centric power infrastructure; a wireless communication subsystem; a central cloud infrastructure (50); and a machine learning forecasting platform (80) executing a multimodal machine learning model to constantly monitor micro-weather conditions, predict aviation-specific weather risks, and output real-time operational decision support. Each sensory data collector device (20) includes an embedded computing unit (21) coupled to an ultrasonic anemometer (29), an infrared temperature and humidity sensor (30), a Doppler LIDAR sensor (31), a GPS module (32), a visibility sensor and ceilometer assembly (33), an electric field mill sensor (34), an avian radar system (35), and a particle sensor (36). The computing unit (21) establishes geographic and temporal correlation via a real-time clock (26) and the GPS module (32), records data locally on an SD card (24), and transmits structured data packets via a Wi-Fi modem (25) to a dataset formation module in the cloud server (50). Grid-independent power is sustained via dedicated solar panels (27), rechargeable batteries (28), and a power supply unit (23) managed by a battery management system. The system automatically categorizes risk indices into predefined levels, maps distinct sensor outputs to explicit aviation hazards, and transmits automated warnings to air traffic control, airline operations, and ground staff to support preventive operational actions.
