Inventors include Sukhaverji Ghate; Prof Deepak Garg; and Dr. Dilbag Singh.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: AN AI-BASED MULTI-MODAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM FOR EARLY DETECTION OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHY (DR) The invention provides an automated multi-modal AI system for early detection of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) by integrating Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) images with patient clinical records. The system preprocesses OCT scans and health data, extracts retinal features using deep learning, and fuses them with clinical risk factors through a multimodal fusion module. A classification engine outputs DR stages, probability scores, and explainable heatmaps, enabling accurate and transparent diagnosis. The system delivers severity grading, progression risk prediction, and early-warning alerts, reducing reliance on manual ophthalmologist interpretation. By combining imaging and clinical data in a unified deep learning architecture, the invention enhances diagnostic efficiency, minimizes human error, and facilitates timely intervention to prevent vision loss.
