MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079731 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology on June 29, 2026, for An Ai-Based Dynamic Traffic Monitoring And Adaptive Signal Control System For Optimizing Traffic Flow.
Inventor includes Gulshan Taj M.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a dynamic traffic management system for adaptive control of traffic signals at road intersections using artificial intelligence and image processing techniques. The system comprises one or more image acquisition devices configured to capture real-time traffic images, a processing unit configured to preprocess the captured images, and a trained object detection model for detecting and classifying vehicles within multiple traffic lanes. Vehicular density is determined based on detected vehicles, and adaptive signal timing parameters are generated accordingly. A traffic signal controller dynamically regulates signal durations to optimize vehicular movement and reduce congestion. The system further identifies abnormal traffic conditions including accidents, lane blockage, and sudden traffic accumulation and generates alert notifications to traffic monitoring authorities. The invention provides real-time traffic optimization, reduced waiting time, improved road safety, lower fuel consumption, and scalable integration with intelligent transportation and smart city infrastructure system.
