Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-based driver alertness and safety monitoring system designed to reduce road accidents caused by driver fatigue and distraction. The system utilizes a camera to capture real-time video of the driver and applies computer vision and machine learning techniques to analyze facial features and behavioral patterns. The system continuously monitors parameters such as eye blinking rate, eye closure duration (PERCLOS), and head movements to determine the driver’s level of alertness. Based on the analysis, the system classifies the driver’s state as alert, drowsy, or distracted. Upon detecting signs of fatigue or inattentiveness, the system generates immediate audio and visual alerts to warn the driver and restore attention. Additionally, the system records driver behavior data for further analysis, enabling improvement in driving safety and performance monitoring. The proposed system operates in real time with high accuracy and reliability, and can be integrated into various types of vehicles. By providing early detection and timely alerts, the invention enhances road safety and helps in preventing accidents caused by driver drowsiness and distraction.
