MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541023140 A) filed by Hariteja Systems And Solutions on March 15, 2025, for An Affordable Head-Motion Controlled Wheelchair With App Support.

Inventors include Manda Suman; and Manda Jyoshna.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an head-motion controlled wheelchair system (100) designed for individuals with severe mobility impairments. The system comprises head-motion sensors (2) mounted on an adjustable headgear (8) to detect multi-axis head movements, which are processed by an embedded control module executing real-time gesture classification algorithms. The classified gestures are converted into motion commands to control wheelchair motors (4) via pulse-width modulation. A mobile application communicates with the system through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, enabling configuration, monitoring, and emergency intervention. The system includes a rechargeable power supply (6) and an obstacle detection mechanism to ensure operational safety. The modular design allows adaptability, while the low-cost implementation ensures accessibility for users in resource-limited settings. The invention offers an intuitive, hands-free, and customizable mobility solution, enhancing independence and control for users unable to operate conventional wheelchairs.
