Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustable fixture system (100) designed to perform friction stir welding (FSW) on a conventional vertical milling machine. The fixture (100) allows friction stir welding to be carried out using an existing milling machine by providing stable clamping and support for the workpieces. The fixture system (100) comprises of a base plate (1) mounted on the milling machine table and adjustable clamping plates (2) secured using fastening elements (3). The fixture base plate (1) is fixed to the milling machine table using mounting bolts (4) to ensure stability during the welding process. The adjustable slot (S) arrangement allows plates (2) of different sizes to be clamped securely. The fixture can accommodate workpieces with widths ranging from 40 mm to 62.5 mm and lengths up to 230 mm. This system (100) provides a simple, low-cost, and practical solution for conducting friction stir welding on vertical milling machine in research laboratories and small manufacturing setups.
