Abstract: An adaptive, multimodal communication and classroom participation system for students with disabilities is disclosed, implemented entirely as software executing on standard computing devices equipped with a digital camera, requiring no specialized or proprietary hardware. The system maintains a stored disability profile for each student, which automatically configures an active input modality and interface presentation upon student login, without manual reconfiguration. A plurality of camera- based input subsystems are provided, including hand gesture recognition, eye-gaze-based screen navigation and selection, single-switch scanning, and an eye-blink- based Morse-code communication module in which eye-open and eye-closed durations are classified into discrete temporal patterns and decoded into words or phrases using a pattern-to-meaning mapping that is independently customizable on a per-student basis by an authorized teacher or administrator. Outputs of each input subsystem are normalized into a common intent-signal format for use across the platform. The system further provides real-time classroom participation tools, teacher- assigned homework and academic progress reporting, and an examination accommodation subsystem that automatically applies extended time and detects, times, and logs student-initiated rest-break signals during a timed assessment. A self-contained, bidirectional communication engine enables real-time messaging and notification among four role based modules an administrator, a teacher, a student, and a caregiver without dependence on any third-party external messaging service.
