MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441096087 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 05, 2024, for An Active Battery Monitoring System.
Inventors include Pradeep Nagaraj; and Pavani Chintakrindi.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a battery monitoring system (300) for a battery pack (500). The battery pack (500) comprises at least one quantum dot (202, 202a, 202b,202c), communicatively coupled to at least one optical fiber (112) and configured to emit photons upon interacting with gas molecules released by a cell (100) of battery pack (500). The battery pack (500) also comprises a vapor cell (304) configured to get excited by the photons. Further, the battery pack (500)comprises a photon detector (302) configured to measure the intensity and wavelength of the photons emitted by the vapor cell (304). Finally, a control module (312) of the battery pack (500) determines operational status of the battery pack (500) based on the intensity and wavelength. The operational status is used to predict thermal runaway conditions and assess life expectancy of the battery pack (500), facilitating early detection of potential failures in the battery.
