Abstract: An access control system is provided comprising a plurality of locking devices, each including a wireless communication module configured to communicate with a server over a wireless network, a short-range wireless communication module configured to store network credentials and maintain local communication with other locking devices, a timing mechanism configured to schedule wake-up events, and a controller. The controller is configured to switch the wireless communication module between a fully functional mode and a low-power mode and to initiate server communication upon a wake-up event. The timing mechanisms of the plurality of locking devices are arranged to enable phased wake-ups, allowing at least one locking device in the fully functional mode to communicate with the server while the remaining locking devices stay in low-power mode and sustain local connectivity through the short-range wireless communication modules.
