Inventors include Saurabh S. Soni; Darshna B. Kanani; and Sanjaysinh N. Bariya.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a rechargeable metal ion battery. The battery comprises an anode (100), a cathode (200), and an amphiphilic block copolymer-based metal coordinated electrolyte (300) packed between the anode (100) and the cathode (200) in an enclosure (400). The anode (100) is made from any of the pristine metals and carbon-based materials. The cathode (200) is made from any of the metal oxides, mixed metal oxides, heterocyclic organic materials, covalent organic framework (COF) material, metal organic framework (MOF) material, Mxenes, and carbon-based material. The electrolyte (300) includes a metal halide selected from lithium, sodium, zinc, calcium, iron, aluminium and magnesium; and an amphiphilic block copolymer selected from a group of compounds as represented by formula: HO- (B)m-(A)n-(B)m-OH, HO-(A)m-(B)n-(A)m-OH, HO-(A)m-(B)n-OH, HO-(B)m-(A)n-OH, where ‘A and B’ stands for hydrophobic and hydrophilic monomer, respectively. The battery exhibits long life ( 5000) charging/discharging cycles with 98.15% retention of coulombic efficiency and 90% retention of specific capacity at a 7C rate of charging and discharging current input.
