MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617086231 A) filed by Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki Kaisha on July 14, 2026, for Alcohol-Containing Fuel Engine System And Vehicle.

Inventors include Matsuyama, Ryota; Atsumi, Masaki; and Iguchi, Wataru.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides: an alcohol-containing fuel engine system that is capable of achieving both reproducibility of early combustion and target followability of an engine rotation speed in an engine in which in-cylinder injection is not performed; and a vehicle that includes the alcohol-containing fuel engine system. At start- up of the engine, a control device of the alcohol-containing fuel engine system specifies a first cycle, which corresponds to first combustion after the start-up, and a non- combustion preliminary cycle, which immediately precedes the first cycle, and executes a control sequence in which the first cycle and the non-combustion preliminary cycle are combined. In the first cycle, the control device: controls an intake air amount adjustment device to supply air in an amount which is smaller than the amount of air in a high idle state when warming up the alcohol-containing fuel engine; controls a fuel injection device to inject, into an intake passage, a fuel in an amount which is smaller than the maximum fuel injection amount; and controls the first combustion using a fuel which has been injected in the non-combustion preliminary cycle, stored in the intake passage, and vaporized, the fuel which has been injected in the first cycle, and the air in the amount which is smaller than the amount of air in the high idle state. In the non-combustion preliminary cycle, the control device: controls the intake air amount adjustment device to supply air in an amount which is smaller than the amount of air in the high idle state; controls the fuel injection device to inject, into the intake passage, a fuel in an amount which is smaller than the maximum fuel injection amount; and controls the storage of the alcohol-containing fuel which has been injected at an air flow rate that has been decreased in the intake passage so as to secure a time for the vaporization.
