The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: Facial detection and recognition has become one of the most sought out fields in computer-based application development over the last few years. This is purely because of its versatility to use it in various domains and instruments. One such domain is the Internet of Things where such applications can be implemented in existing smart home systems. Although various smart-home systems exist in this paradigm, security has a lot of scope for improvement. One of the major problems with regard to home security is the dynamic alert system which only detects the person and does not recognize them. This may not seem like a problem due to the existing display systems that are integrated. But for those who are visually impaired and the elderly who have inherent problems with everyday sight, this is a major drawback. In this project, we aim to apply and test various facial detection and recognition algorithms along with various sound and speaker aids to help the visually disabled and elderly people to secure their homes. Our system detects the unknown person and rings an alarm and also it sends an e-mail to the family members or guardian who looks after the elderly or visually impaired people at home, thus improving the overall environment for its residents.
