MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611103476 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on August 27, 2026, for Airway Support Scaffold With Adaptive Radial Stiffness.

Inventors include Krishna Mittal; Ruchika Goyal; Dr. Anurag Kumar Singh; Dr. Sachin Kumar; Dr. Prashant Nakash; and Dr. Sagar Pareek.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: An airway support scaffold (100) with adaptive radial stiffness is disclosed. The scaffold (100) comprises a structural framework (105) configured for implantation within an airway lumen and comprising an auxetic lattice architecture configured to undergo controlled deformation in response to physiological airway movements. A plurality of flexure hinges (110) is integrated within the structural framework (105). A surface treatment layer (115) is disposed over at least a portion of the structural framework (105) and comprises a muco-conductive inner surface and a therapeutic outer surface. One or more transition zones (120) are disposed at ends of the structural framework (105) to provide gradual variation in radial stiffness. A method (200) of manufacturing the scaffold comprises generating a scaffold design, fabricating the structural framework, forming the flexure hinges and transition zones, applying the surface treatment layer, forming mucus-conductive surface features, and incorporating therapeutic agents.
