The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: An air sterilization and ethylene removal device to extend the shelf-life and freshness of horticultural produce during storage and transport without using chemicals. The air sterilization and ethylene removal device includes a reaction chamber that includes an inlet, segmented baffle plates, light sources, and an outlet. The inlet receives contaminated air. The segmented baffle plates are coated with a non-toxic photocatalyst to support a photocatalysis reaction. The light sources are placed on both sides of the reaction chamber for activating the non-toxic photocatalyst, thereby increasing an activation energy and further increasing the speed of a reaction time which allows the breakdown of ethylene present in the contaminated air and produces sterilized air. The segmented baffle plates direct the flow of the contaminated air onto the non-toxic photocatalyst to assist in the breakdown of ethylene. The outlet discharges sterilized air with a tailored, photocatalyst of titanium dioxide, which in turn accelerates an oxidation process to break down organic substances present in the sterilized air.
