MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126810 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 24, 2026, for Air Disinfection Verification And Mixing Regulation Apparatus For Upper-Room Germicidal Ultraviolet Installations.
Inventors include Dr. Ganesh Shamrao Khekare; and Shlok Kumar Goenka.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT AIR DISINFECTION VERIFICATION AND MIXING REGULATION APPARATUS FOR UPPER-ROOM GERMICIDAL ULTRAVIOLET INSTALLATIONS An air disinfection verification and regulation apparatus for a room (700) having an upper irradiated zone (701) and a lower occupied zone (702) includes a germicidal ultraviolet fixture (703), a brushless destratification fan drive (401), and an isotropic ultraviolet-C sensing head (101) scanned by a scanning mast and rotary stage (102) over a lattice registered by a lattice registration unit (103). A metered tracer injector (201) discharges tracer into the lower occupied zone (702), a six-height non-dispersive infrared rake (202) records height-resolved concentration, and a stratification and interface probe (203) returns a normal velocity distribution. An exchange coefficient solver (302) separates exchange flow from bulk ventilation. A fluence field integrator (301) forms a streamline-weighted mean fluence rate, which a humidity-corrected estimator (303) combines with the exchange flow into a delivered equivalent air-change rate. A perturb-and-observe optimum tracker (402) steps the fan drive and holds the greatest-rate speed. (Fig. 1)
