MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113938 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College on September 23, 2026, for Ai Tutoring System And Method To Prevent Learner Over-Reliance.

Inventors include Dr. Suresh Kumar S; and Dr Sudalaimuthu T.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: An agentic tutoring system (100) and method (200) are disclosed for conducting a tutoring interaction with a learner. An interaction-capture subsystem (102) senses, through an instrumented interface upon a learner device, a behavioural interaction trace comprising a response latency, a revision event, a hint-request event and a reasoning-step utterance, and the order thereof. An over-reliance determination module (108) generates therefrom, by a sequence model, an engagement state: productive struggle, guided reasoning or over-reliance. A tutoring orchestrator (104), executing a closed perceive-assess-adapt-respond-learn loop, selects autonomously a response mode from a permitted action set in dependence upon that state and upon a stored objective (118); a language and response-generation module (106) resident upon the device generates a tutoring response accordingly in a first or a second natural language. A prohibited action set is enforced independently of the orchestrator (104): a module (112) suppresses a response satisfying a prohibition criterion and a module (114) refers an interaction satisfying a referral criterion to an educator. Selections are adapted within the permitted action set, whereby a reasoning activity of the learner is preserved and behavioural data remain upon the device.
