MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641107285 A) filed by Semapi Instruments Private Limited on September 07, 2026, for Ai-Powered Wagon Wheel Bearing Fault Detection System And Method Using Slow-Motion Testing.
Inventors include Kapu V A Pavan Kumar; and Sreevani Beesetti.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure describe AI-powered wagon wheel bearing fault detection system and method using slow-motion testing. The AI-powered system and method for detecting faults in railway wagon wheel bearings using controlled slow-motion testing. The system comprises a slow-motion test setup, drive motor, reflective marker, tachometer, accelerometer, vibration analyzer, AI/ML-based diagnostic module. Wagon wheel bearing is rotated at controlled speed of approximately 6–300 RPM, while the rotational speed is measured and verified using the tachometer. Vibration signals generated during rotation are acquired through the accelerometer and processed to generate vibration spectrum. Characteristic bearing fault frequencies including Ball Pass Frequency Outer Race (BPFO), Ball Pass Frequency Inner Race (BPFI), Ball Spin Frequency (BSF), and Fundamental Train Frequency (FTF) are identified. The AI/ML-based diagnostic module analyses vibration features to determine fault type, fault location, and severity. The system further generates bearing health assessment, Go/No-Go verdict, maintenance recommendation, and digital diagnostic report. FIG. 1
