Abstract: An AI-powered smartphone application for non-invasive glucose monitoring is disclosed. The app uses the built-in camera and flash to capture images of the fingernail bed, fingertip skin, or retina. An on-device AI pipeline preprocesses images, extracts optical biomarkers such as hemoglobin absorption and microvascular flow, and applies machine learning regression models to estimate blood glucose concentration. A calibration module personalizes accuracy using initial reference readings from a standard glucometer. The system provides real-time readings, trend analysis, and hypo/hyperglycemia alerts without external hardware, strips, or sensors. It enables low-cost, portable, pain-free glucose monitoring for rural and low-income patients. Validation shows MARD of 12.8% after calibration with 87% of readings in Clarke Zones A+B. The invention addresses the need for affordable, non-invasive diabetes management using only a smartphone.
