Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-powered smart waste segregation and waste-quality intelligence system for automatically detecting, classifying, verifying, segregating and monitoring waste. The system comprises a waste input chamber, IR-based object detection, a camera with controlled LED illumination, an AI processing unit, a multi-sensor verification arrangement, a confidence-aware decision engine, an ESP32 controller, a servo-operated mechanical flap and multiple waste collection compartments. The AI processing unit analyzes captured waste images using computer vision and object detection techniques and determines a waste category together with a classification confidence value. The decision engine evaluates the AI output and sensor information before generating a segregation command, thereby avoiding blind classification of uncertain or unknown waste. The mechanical flap automatically directs the waste into a corresponding wet, dry/recyclable or hazardous waste compartment. Ultrasonic sensors monitor bin fill level and a load cell with HX711 measures waste weight. IoT connectivity provides remote monitoring, alerts and waste-quality intelligence for data-driven waste management.
