The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: A wearable hazard-detection and scene-understanding system (100) and method are disclosed, comprising a hybrid split-core architecture executed on a microcomputing stack (108). An optical acquisition array (104) captures image frames that are processed by a local reflex engine (118) using a quantized offline neural network model to detect physical hazards, including approaching obstacles, and trigger acoustic alerts within sub-second latency, independently of network connectivity. A cognitive engine (120), remaining dormant until activated by a voice wake-word or tactile trigger, transmits a captured frame to a cloud-based multimodal large language model (124) to generate semantic scene descriptions, optical character recognition output, and currency identification, which are converted to speech and delivered through an isolated audio-conversion pipeline (112). By asynchronously decoupling the safety-critical reflex loop from the higher-latency cognitive loop, and through isolated power and audio infrastructure, the system mitigates thermal throttling and provides reliable, low-cost assistive navigation for visually impaired users.
