Abstract: FreshGuard Al: An Intelligent Multi-Sensor Food Freshness Detection, Shelf-Life Prediction, and Smart Preservation System is an Artificial Intelligence (Al) and Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart food monitoring system designed to improve food safety and reduce food waste. The invention integrates multiple sensors, including gas sensors for detecting ammonia, methane, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), along with temperature, humidity, and weight senscrs to continuously monitor the condition of stored food. The collected sensor data is processed using an AI-based prediction engine that analyzes food freshness, estimates the remaining shelf life, and detects early signs of spoilage before visible deterioration occurs. An optional camera module enables computer vision analysis for identifying food type and detecting color or texture changes associated with spoilage. The processed information is displayed on the storage unit and transmitted to a mobile application through wireless communication for real-time monitoring, expiry alerts, and storage recommendations. The system also supports cloud connectivity for storing historical data and continuously improving prediction accuracy through machine learning. The proposed invention provides an intelligent, reliable, and scalable solution for households, restaurants, supermarkets, cold storage facilities, and food industries by minimizing food waste, improving food quality management, and enhancing consumer safety through predictive food freshness monitoring.
