MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089132 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on July 22, 2026, for Ai-Iot Driven Multi-Sensor Fusion System For Predictive Food Spoilage Detection With Dynamic Environmental Compensation.
Inventors include Rishi Gupta; and Niranjan Rathore.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable, AI-IoT enabled food edibility monitoring system that employs multi-modal sensor fusion — integrating gas sensing (MQ-4), chemical acidity measurement (analog pH sensor), and ambient parameter sensing (DHT11) — to continuously predict food spoilage and estimate remaining shelf life in real time. A principal inventive contribution is a novel Environmental Compensation Algorithm (ECA) that uses real-time temperature and humidity readings to mathematically auto-calibrate the gas and pH sensors, thereby eliminating environmental drift and substantially reducing false alarms in varying real-world conditions. The system further incorporates a cloud-synchronized, dynamic food-profile calibration module, allowing users to select specific food matrices through a mobile or web interface, which adjusts spoilage thresholds accordingly. Built around an ESP32 microcontroller and IoT protocols (MQTT over Wi-Fi), the device transmits calibrated, high-fidelity Edibility Index data to a remote server for machine learning-based predictive analytics, historical logging, and instant push-notification alerts, thereby advancing food safety management and reducing preventable food wastage.
