MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086221 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 11, 2025, for Ai-Integrated Smart Inhaler For Real-Time Asthma Attack Prediction Using Respiratory Pattern Analysis.

Inventors include Dr. Yogesh Kumar; and Dr. Nandini Modi.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The titled invention discloses an Al-enabled smart inhaler system for the early prediction and management of asthma attacks through real-time respiratory monitoring. The system includes a smart inhaler casing (1) housing a mouth piece (2) through which the user breathes during medication administration. A sensor unit (6) comprising a microphone sensor and airflow sensor captures respiratory signals such as breathing sounds, airflow strength, and breathing cycle patterns. These signals are transmitted to a controller unit (7) where signal preprocessing, feature extraction, and artificial intelligence based prediction algorithms analyze respiratory behavior. The controller unit (7) identifies abnormal breathing patterns through an edge inference layer enabling offline prediction. A LED alert indicator (5) provides visual warnings when abnormal conditions are detected, while respiratory data is transmitted through a BLE communication module (8) to a user device interface (10). A display module (3) shows device status information, and a battery unit (9) powers the system for continuous respiratory monitoring and early asthma attack prediction. Figure-4
