MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064527 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for Ai Enhanced Predictive Maintenance Using Edge -Iot Sensor And Federated Learning.

Inventors include Janani Narayanan; Dana Darthy S; and Dr. K. S Vishvaksenan.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: A predictive maintenance system optimized by AI and edge-IoT sensors and federated learning is presented. The system is intended to monitor the critical operational parameters of industrial equipment continuously and detect the early warning signs of degradation or anomalies. The sensor readings are analyzed locally at edge computing nodes by intelligent machine learning models, which makes real-time analysis possible with low latency. The invention also utilizes federated learning to train predictive models on multiple edge nodes together without moving the raw sensor data to a central server. This makes the system much more privacy-friendly and scalable. The proposed system is very useful for smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 because it allows early fault prediction, proactive maintenance scheduling, and minimized downtime
