The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-enhanced maritime navigation system for autonomous and semi-autonomous vessels that integrates hybrid route planning, artificial intelligence, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)-based trust management to enable secure and adaptive navigation. The system acquires real-time data from heterogeneous sensors including GPS, IMU, sonar or ultrasonic sensors, weather sensors, and visual cameras, and performs sensor fusion to generate a navigational cost map. An A* algorithm computes an initial optimal route, while a D* Lite algorithm dynamically replans the route in response to changing environmental conditions. An artificial intelligence module employs predictive modelling, reinforcement learning, and anomaly detection to forecast maritime conditions, optimize navigation decisions, and identify unreliable sensor inputs. A PKI-based trust management framework authenticates sensors, validates digital certificates, encrypts communications, and prevents compromised data from influencing navigation decisions. The integrated architecture improves operational safety, cybersecurity, fuel efficiency, route reliability, and autonomous maritime navigation under dynamic sea conditions.
