MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083985 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 08, 2026, for Ai-Enabled Hybrid Energy Harvesting Smart Backpack.

Inventors include Parth Bathla; Madhu Aneja; and Dr. Renu Bala.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: AI-enabled hybrid energy harvesting smart backpack comprises a main solar panel array and a pair of expandable flexible solar wings foldably coupled to lateral sides of the backpack body to selectively increase solar collection area by three to four times. A plurality of light intensity sensors cooperates with an AI-based sunlight tracking controller to dynamically prioritise energy collection from panel sections receiving highest sunlight exposure. A kinetic energy harvesting system having piezoelectric generators integrated within shoulder straps converts body movement into supplementary electrical energy. A hybrid energy combiner circuit, intelligent charge controller, rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, and thermal protection system cooperatively regulate and store harvested energy. A smart power distribution module, wireless power sharing module, GPS-based anti-theft security module, SOS emergency assistance system, and wireless communication module interfacing with a companion mobile application collectively provide safe, sustainable, and intelligent portable power.
