Abstract: The present invention provides an AI-enabled environmental monitoring system for predicting pollution and assessing ecological risk in smart-city environments. The system acquires heterogeneous environmental observations from distributed sensing nodes and external data sources, validates the observations, detects anomalies, reconstructs missing data, and assigns confidence values. An AI-based spatiotemporal prediction engine processes the validated data with meteorological, traffic, industrial, geographical, and historical information to predict pollutant concentrations and associated uncertainties. A pollution source attribution engine determines probable pollution source regions, while an ecological risk assessment engine combines predicted pollutant exposure with ecological vulnerability, pollutant hazard, exposure duration, persistence, and uncertainty parameters to generate dynamic ecological risk scores. A risk mapping engine generates spatial pollution and ecological- risk representations. An adaptive monitoring controller dynamically modifies sensor sampling, activates additional sensing resources, or redirects mobile monitoring based on predicted pollution, ecological risk, uncertainty, and environmental change.
