MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611108600 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on September 10, 2026, for Ai-Enabled Autonomous Solar Panel Cleaning System.
Inventors include Dr. Vinay Gupta; and Eshita Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-enabled autonomous solar panel cleaning system. The system comprises an ESP32-CAM for real-time vision monitoring of the PV panel; an edge AI classification model to analyze an image of a panel and classify its condition as clear, lightly dusty, or heavily dusty, independent of constant cloud access; a microcontroller unit (ESP32) to perform the cleaning decision algorithm, controls peripheries, and communication; a cleaning device to remove dust/contaminants from the surface of the solar panel; a moto driver circuit to control the operation and direction of DC motors; a water pump and solenoid valve to supply and regulate the flow of water during cleaning process; an Infrared (IR) or ultrasonic sensors to detect the obstacles; a proximity sensors to detect the position of the cleaning mechanism for accurate movement and automatic stopping; a communication module to transmit system status, cleaning history, images, and operational data to a remote monitoring platform or cloud server; a cloud server to store the data; and decision and control technology to determine when cleaning should be initiated, verify cleaning effectiveness after completion, and optimize cleaning frequency to reduce unnecessary water and energy usage. Accordingly, the system substantially eliminates non-beneficial cleaning cycles, save water and energy, reduce maintenance cost, and ensure greater efficiency and reliability in the process of solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation.
