Abstract: ABSTRACT An AI-enabled autonomous drainage inspection and cleaning robot (100) and associated quantum inspired multi-objective path optimization method are disclosed. The robot comprises a locomotion subsystem (104) for traversing pipes of varying diameter, a sensing subsystem (102) providing LiDAR, image, sonar and gas/flow data, an edge AI processing unit (106) that classifies pipe defects and debris using a trained neural network, a quantum-inspired optimization engine (108) that represents the pipe network as a weighted graph and computes an efficient traversal route by encoding candidate routes as qubit-inspired probability amplitude pairs, probabilistically generating and evaluating candidate routes against a multi-objective cost model (110) balancing energy, time, coverage, and defect priority, and iteratively updating the amplitude pairs via a rotation-gate rule, a cleaning subsystem (114) responsive to the classification output, and a communication module (116) reporting to a base station (118). The invention enables energy-efficient, defect-prioritized, real-time-adaptive autonomous inspection and cleaning of drainage networks without requiring physical quantum computing hardware, reducing manual entry into hazardous confined spaces.
