MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101770 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 23, 2026, for Ai-Driven Eye Gaze Communication And Emergency Response System For Physically Impaired Individuals.

Inventors include V Ezhil Arasi; Dr. Mohankumar B; and Dr. Gopinath M. P.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven Eye Gaze Communication and Emergency Response System for physically impaired individuals. The system integrates an Eye Gaze Tracker, AI Processing Module, Communication Interface Module, Ocular Behaviour Monitoring Module, Adaptive Learning and Personalisation Module, Emergency Detection Module, and IoT Communication Module into a unified assistive platform. The system enables hands-free communication by converting gaze patterns into commands and textual inputs using AI-based gaze interpretation, predictive language modelling, and intent estimation. The system continuously analyses ocular behavioural parameters including blink patterns, fixation duration, pupil variations, and gaze movements to identify abnormal conditions and emergency situations. An adaptive learning mechanism personalizes gaze calibration, communication behaviour, and emergency thresholds based on user-specific patterns. Upon detecting an emergency, the system automatically transmits prioritized alerts to designated recipients through IoT-enabled communication channels, thereby improving accessibility, safety, independence, and quality of life for physically impaired individuals.
