Abstract: The titled invention presents an AI-driven adaptive protection scheme for renewable-integrated smart grids. The system comprises a grid connection arrangement, renewable energy source such as a solar photovoltaic panel, MPPT unit, inverter, protection relays, smart sensing devices, SCADA communication, and an edge computing unit. The edge computing unit receives real-time electrical parameters including current, voltage, frequency, phase angle, power flow direction, active power, and reactive power from grid sensors and renewable interface equipment. A machine learning fault detection and classification module, preferably a hybrid CNN-RNN model, analyzes the real-time data to identify fault signatures, classify fault types, and determine the affected grid section. Based on the detected grid condition, renewable generation level, bidirectional power flow, and topology changes, the system dynamically adjusts relay settings such as pickup current, trip timing, directional protection settings, and coordination parameters. The edge computing unit generates low-latency trip commands to isolate confirmed faults without depending on cloud-based processing. The system further includes predictive anomaly detection, topology-aware protection adjustment, SCADA reporting, and real- time visualization. The invention improves the reliability, selectivity, and stability of renewable-rich smart grids by replacing static relay settings with adaptive, Al- enhanced, edge-based protection logic. Figure -1
