MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641096645 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 10, 2026, for Ai Based Virtual Thermal Dna System For Non-Contact Edible Oil Quality Assessment Using Rgb Imaging.
Inventors include Jaffino; Jr Bharath; and Dr. J. Prabin Jose.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an artificial intelligence-based intelligent oil quality monitoring system for real-time, non-contact assessment of industrial and domestic oils using ordinary RGB images. The system comprises an image acquisition module (101) for periodically capturing oil sample images, an image pre-processing module (102), a deep learning-based feature extraction module (103), and an oil classification module (104) configured to classify the samples and determine the oil status (105). Extracted visual features are processed by a thermal signature prediction module (106) to generate predicted thermal parameters (107) without requiring thermal imaging hardware, followed by generation of a virtual thermal map (108). Statistical descriptors obtained therefrom are used for Thermal DNA profile extraction (109) and Thermal Fingerprint generation (110). An Oil Health Index (111) is computed to quantitatively represent oil condition, and a Final Oil Quality Report (112) is generated. The invention enables continuous, cost-effective predictive maintenance through integration with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), cloud, and edge computing platforms.
