MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090029 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College on July 24, 2026, for Ai-Based System For Real-Time Helmet Violation Detection And Automated Traffic Enforcement And Working Method Thereof.

Inventors include Nandini Srivastava; Aditya Singh; Arushi Singh; Harshit; and Mr. Pronab Kumar Adhikari.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an AI-based system (100) for real-time helmet violation detection and automated traffic enforcement. The system (100) comprises a camera module (102) configured to capture continuous video streams, a processing unit (104) for frame extraction and preprocessing, and an AI detection module (106) configured to identify riders and determine helmet usage using deep learning techniques. Upon detection of a helmet violation, the AI detection module (106) generates a trigger signal to selectively activate an OCR module (108), which extracts vehicle license plate information. The system further includes a database (110) for storing violation records with image evidence and metadata, a user interface (112) for visualization, and a communication module (114) for transmitting enforcement data. The trigger-based processing reduces computational load and enables efficient real-time operation, thereby providing an automated, scalable, and accurate traffic enforcement solution.
